Cream Advice
Tingle creams work by mildly irritating our skin and stimulating our blood cells, making it flow faster. This in turn assists the tanning process by moving the melanin to the surface of our skin more quickly. Tingles as the name suggests give us that tingle feeling as if you have been in the sun for some time. To some it is very pleasant. For others this is not always the case and tingle creams are to be treated with caution. The tingle feeling feels hot and in most cases itchy. They vary in strength and peoples’ reactions also differ. The effect normally lasts from 30 to 60 minutes.
How to use tingle.
Never use a tingle if you have just started tanning. Wait until you have a good base tan. Always try a test patch on the underside of your wrist or similarly sensitive area. Your skin will redden, this is normal. It is up to you whether or not you find it comfortable. It is advisable not to apply tingles on sensitive areas of your body including your face. If you like tingles then start with a mild one and work your way up to the stronger ones. Reduce your tanning session by several minutes. Always have a glass of water before going on the sunbed. Tingle creams are popular and do help you get over the tanning plateau. A lot of customers find their legs are difficult to tan. Tingle products can help in this area as they open the pores more than a standard cream enabling the product to penetrate the skin further. Creams with chillers/cooling creams in are as they suggest. They contain a cooling agent and have the effect of cooling you down after the tanning session. Really popular in the summer.
Bronzers –
What are they? Natural ingredients that produce instant colour to the skin.
The benefit? Produces and instant colour and dark tanning results. There are two types of bronzers natural and DHA
Natural bronzers – Because they are self adjusting to your natural skin tint they will not streak or appear fake, but will give a natural looking tanned glow to the skin. However in order for them to work they must be stimulated to UV light and therefore you must go on the sunbed in order to notice the difference. Natural bronzers take a day to develop, producing a darker but natural looking tan. They are not a fake tan product and, unlike DHA you do not need to wash your hands after application.
DHA – (fake tan) DHA sugars react naturally with the protein in the skin o create an even darker tan. UV light is not required to achieve a tan with DHA bronzers. They take between 12 and 24 hours to develop. All lotions containing DHA must be applied with care to avoid streaking and hands must be washed after use to avoid staining particularly between the fingers.
